Dentegerous cysts

A dentigerous cyst is a common odontogenic cyst that develops around the crown of an unerupted or impacted tooth. It is the second most common odontogenic cyst after radicular cysts and is associated primarily with impacted third molars and maxillary canines.

Complications :

• Expansion leading to bone resorption and weakening of the jaw.
• Infection resulting in abscess formation.
• Rare transformation into an ameloblastoma or squamous cell carcinoma.
